Lance Lynn is a two-time MLB All-Star and World Series Champion, noted for his impactful pitching performances across multiple major league teams including the St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, and Chicago White Sox. He leverages his extensive career experience for various collaborations.
Michael Lance Lynn was born on May 12, 1987, in Indianapolis, Indiana. His early baseball career included playing in the 1999 Little League World Series for Brownsburg, Indiana. He attended Brownsburg High School, earning All-State honors and demonstrating exceptional skills as both a pitcher and a hitter. Lynn was recognized as the Indiana Gatorade High School Player of the Year in 2005. The Seattle Mariners drafted him in the sixth round of the 2005 MLB draft, but Lynn chose to attend the University of Mississippi. There, he set school records for single-season and career strikeouts, culminating in a college record of 22–12 with a 3.95 ERA.
Lynn was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2008 MLB draft. He quickly progressed through the minor league system, being named the Cardinals’ organizational Pitcher of the Year in 2009 after rising through three levels. His professional debut with the Cardinals came on June 2, 2011. He was a key member of the Cardinals’ 2011 World Series championship team, making crucial postseason appearances despite an oblique injury during the regular season. In 2012, he achieved significant recognition, being named an NL All-Star and finishing with an 18–7 record and a 3.78 ERA. He continued to be a consistent starter for the Cardinals, pitching his first career complete-game shutout in 2014 and reaching 500 career strikeouts.
Throughout his career, Lynn has demonstrated resilience and adaptability. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2015, which caused him to miss the entire 2016 season, he made a successful return to the Cardinals in 2017 with an 11–8 record and a 3.43 ERA. He later played for the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers, consistently delivering strong performances. In 2020, he earned his 100th MLB career win with the Texas Rangers. In 2021, while with the Chicago White Sox, he was named an AL All-Star and finished third in Cy Young Award voting. On July 30, 2024, Lynn achieved a notable milestone, becoming the 23rd pitcher to earn a victory against all 30 MLB teams.
