Luis Severino

Luis Severino has established himself as a prominent baseball pitcher known for his high-velocity fastball and impactful performances. Having played for multiple Major League Baseball teams, he consistently demonstrates skill and resilience on the mound. After signing with the New York Yankees as an international free agent on December 26, 2011, Luis Severino quickly established himself as a prominent baseball pitcher. He made his professional debut for the Dominican Summer League Yankees, where he recorded an impressive 4–2 win–loss record with a 1.68 earned run average (ERA) across 14 starts.

Severino swiftly ascended through the minor league system, showcasing his talent with the Charleston RiverDogs, Tampa Yankees, and Trenton Thunder, building a strong foundation for his future in Major League Baseball. His significant MLB debut came on August 5, 2015, with the New York Yankees, notably becoming the youngest pitcher to start a game in the 2015 MLB season. Following a challenging 2016 season, Severino emerged as a top-tier pitcher in 2017, earning his first American League All-Star selection. That same year, he finished an impressive third in the Cy Young Award voting, solidifying his status among the league’s elite.

Despite these formidable challenges, Severino showcased remarkable persistence and resilience, returning to pitch effectively for the Yankees. He then made a notable move to the New York Mets in 2024, where he delivered a career highlight with a complete game shutout. Currently, Severino is with the Athletics, having signed a club-record contract in 2025, underscoring his continued value and impact in the league. Off the field, Luis, alongside his wife, Rosmaly, co-founded the Luis & Rosmaly Severino Foundation in 2018.

The foundation is dedicated to fostering educational and technological development for teenagers and actively working to improve community welfare, reflecting Severino’s commitment beyond the baseball diamond.
