Lara Marie Schoenhals is an American writer and podcaster who first came to prominence thanks to the White Girl Problems Twitter account she co-launched in 2010. She subsequently became the co-author of the New York Times bestseller spin-off book, White Girl Problems by Babe Walker in 2012 and its 2014 sequel, Psychos by Babe Walker. Since striking out on her own in 2015, Schoenhals has become well known for various podcasts, including Sexy Unique Podcast, which takes a deeper look at popular reality television shows, and Saving Sex and the City 3.
After studying film at college in Colorada, Schoenhals relocated to Los Angeles in 2008 to do what most people who relocate to Los Angeles go there to do — build a career in the entertainment industry. After a couple of behind-the-scenes roles, including working as an extras casting assistant on The Dark Knight, she helped to get the White Girl Problems comedy Twitter account up and running. The account helped to establish her as a comedy writer of note and the book based on the account, which takes the form of an entitled LA-based rich white girl sending herself to rehab for a shopping addiction, quickly the prestigious New York Times bestseller list.
Schoenhals solo podcasts have become so successful that they have spawned a live show, which debuted in New York in December 2021. Schoenhals is also popular on social media, particularly Instagram where she has 14,000 followers with whom she regularly engages. She has also appeared in a music video for indie legends Grizzly Bear and an episode of her favourite reality show, Vandepump Rules.
