Laura Roesler, an American middle-distance runner hailing from Fargo, North Dakota, has etched her name in the annals of track and field as a formidable force in the 800 meters. Born with an innate talent that surfaced early, Roesler’s high school days at Fargo South saw her become the North Dakota state champion a remarkable 22 times.
Her journey to national prominence accelerated when she participated in the United States Olympic Trials in 2008, clocking an impressive 2:06.82. The World Junior Championships in 2010 marked a pivotal moment, where Roesler improved her time to 2:04.34, securing a notable 9th place in the semi-finals.
Venturing into collegiate athletics, Roesler donned the colors of the Oregon Ducks, amassing an impressive array of accolades including Three-Time Pac-12 Champion, 18-Time All-American, and Five-Time NCAA Champion. In 2014, she ran under two minutes at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, securing second place in the 800m. This success continued at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, where she clinched victory and earned The Bowerman award.
Despite battling through challenging injuries, Roesler showcased unwavering resilience. A gold medalist at the 2017 IAAF World Relay Championships and a 4th place finish at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2016 underscore her international prowess. Currently coached by Rose Monday and based in Florida, Roesler has her sights set on the ultimate prize – representing the USA at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, embodying the spirit of a true Olympic hopeful.
