Canadian writer and actress Lauren Collins is known for her roles in films such as Take The Lead and television show Degrassi: The Next Generation.
When Collins was still a child she began appearing on television, in shows such as Once a Thief and I Was a Sixth Grade Alien. After a stint on In a Heartbeat she landed her breakout role in Degrassi: The Next Generation which she starred in for seven years. She appeared in 143 episodes of the popular teen drama series becoming well known as a central character in the show and going on to star in other programmes such as Life With Derek and The Best Years. In 2013 she became the host of popular talk show 1 Girl 5 Gays, working on the show for a year and becoming a household name in the process. Other appearances include in sketch show the Kroll Show, The Strain, and Impulse, in which she had a recurring role. Outside of acting Collins has also branched out into writing, with her debut coming in 2014 when she co-wrote film Zero Recognition. She also starred in the movie, which was aired at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Most recently, Collins has starred in an episode of The Hot Zone, and in 2019 short film Serious Lees. She recently became a mother with her husband Jonathan Malen who is also an actor, and continues to be cast in television shows and films.
