Lauren Weisberger

Lauren Weisberger was born on March 28, 1977, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her early life included moving to Allentown, Pennsylvania, after her parents’ divorce, where she attended Parkland High School, graduating in 1995. She then pursued higher education at Cornell University, majoring in English and becoming a member of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority, graduating in 1999. Following her graduation, Weisberger spent time backpacking across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, exploring countries such as Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Jordan, Nepal, and Thailand. Upon returning to the United States, she settled in Manhattan.

Weisberger began her professional career at Vogue magazine as an assistant to editor Anna Wintour. After a ten-month tenure, she moved to Departures magazine, an American Express publication, where she served as an assistant editor and contributed 100-word reviews. Her experiences at Vogue provided the foundation for her debut novel, “The Devil Wears Prada,” published in 2003. This novel quickly achieved bestseller status, spending six months on The New York Times Best Seller List and becoming the nation’s best-selling mass-market softcover book by July 2006. The book’s success led to a film adaptation in 2006, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, which grossed approximately $326 million globally, and more recently, a West End musical.

Following her initial success, Weisberger continued her literary career, publishing seven additional New York Times bestselling novels including “Everyone Worth Knowing” (2005), “Chasing Harry Winston” (2008), “Last Night at Chateau Marmont” (2010), “Revenge Wears Prada” (2013), “The Singles Game” (2016), “When Life Gives You Lululemons” (2018), and “Where the Grass Is Green and the Girls Are Pretty” (2021). Her short story, “The Bamboo Confessions,” was featured in the anthology “American Girls About Town.” Her books have sold over 12 million copies worldwide, and she continues to write and reside in Connecticut with her family.
