Lily Gladstone

Lily Gladstone was born on August 2, 1986, in Kalispell, Montana, and was raised on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation before her family relocated to the Seattle area. She graduated from the University of Montana in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting/Directing and a minor in Native American Studies. Her early career involved performing with the Montana Repertory Theatre and Living Voices, an educational touring theater company, where she honed her craft. Gladstone made her film debut in “Jimmy P: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian” in 2012, followed by a role in “Winter in the Blood” (2013).

Gladstone’s career gained significant momentum with her breakout role in Kelly Reichardt’s 2016 film “Certain Women,” where her performance as a rancher earned her critical acclaim. This role led to the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress, alongside nominations for the Independent Spirit Award and Gotham Independent Film Award. She continued to build her portfolio with roles in television series such as HBO’s “Room 104” (2017-2020), Showtime’s “Billions” (2019-2023), and FX’s “Reservation Dogs” (2022-2023). She also reunited with Reichardt for “First Cow” (2019) and starred in “The Unknown Country” (2022).

The pinnacle of her career to date came in 2023 with her lead role as Mollie Kyle in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Her portrayal earned her widespread recognition, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, making her the first Indigenous person to win an acting Golden Globe. She was also the first Native American nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Female Actor. In 2024, she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her role in “Under the Bridge,” and served as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival.
