Linda Edna Cardellini was born on June 25, 1975, in Redwood City, California. She developed an interest in acting at age ten, performing a singing role in a school Christmas play, and later engaging in school productions and community theater. After graduating from Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, California, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Her initial career steps included a role on the series “Bone Chillers” in 1996. Her breakthrough arrived with her casting as Lindsay Weir in the critically acclaimed series “Freaks and Geeks” (1999–2000), which earned an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series category. Following this, Cardellini’s career diversified, appearing in feature films and television.

Cardellini garnered global recognition for her portrayal of Velma in Warner Bros.’s “Scooby-Doo” (2002) and its 2004 sequel. Her filmography expanded to include roles in “Legally Blonde” (2001), “The Unsaid” (2001) alongside Andy Garcia, and the Adam Sandler-produced comedy “Grandma’s Boy” (2006). In 2005, she starred in the ensemble film “American Gun,” which received a Best Picture nomination at the 2007 Independent Spirit Awards. That same year, she delivered a performance in Ang Lee’s “Brokeback Mountain,” a film that earned an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe win for Best Picture, as well as an Outstanding Ensemble in a Motion Picture Drama by the Screen Actors Guild. Her work on “Brokeback Mountain” led to her casting in the CBS mini-series “Comanche Moon” (2008).

Her career progressed with significant roles in both television and film. She starred as ‘Nurse Samantha Taggart’ on NBC’s “ER” for six seasons and later earned her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role as ‘Sylvia Rosen’ in “Mad Men” (2013). Cardellini joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Laura Barton in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). She also took on lead roles such as ‘Meg Rayburn’ in Netflix’s “Bloodline” (2015–2017) and alongside Christina Applegate in the Netflix dark comedy series “Dead to Me” (2019–2022), which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress.
