One of Austria’s greatest hopes in triathlon, Lisa Perterer is a professional triathlete and Olympian. During her career she has amassed 10 World Cup podiums, multiple top 10 placings in the World Series, and competed in the 2012 Olympics representing Austria. She is currently heading into the peak of her career as she qualified for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo after a solid performance at the 2019 test event.
Perterer went to the Sports High School BORG SSLK in Klagenfurt, where she represented the army club HSV (Heeressportverein) Triathlon Kärnten. Perterer began her career as a triathlete in 2006 but gained the attention of Austrian media when she was announced as the winner of the 2009 Junior European Cup circuit and Austrian Junior Champion 2010. Between the years of 2007 and 2010, Perterer took part in a total of 11 ITU competitions, achieving 9 top ten positions. After these successes, she moved to the Elite ITU racing category in 2011.
Since then, she has progressed to be one of the top athletes on the World Triathlon circuit. 2019 was an especially good year for Perterer. In 2019 she took 1st place at the 2019 AUT Aquathlon National Championships, 3rd place at the 2019 Huatulco ITU Triathlon World Cup, and 4th place at the 2019 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda. That same year, she qualified for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, giving Austria hope for a new elite medalist.
