Born on November 22, 1993, Logan Martin, an Australian professional BMX athlete, discovered BMX Freestyle at the age of 12 in Crestmead, Brisbane. Early in his career, his father assisted him in creating makeshift landing pads with mattresses and sand to soften falls during practice. This early dedication laid the groundwork for his future achievements. In 2012, Martin competed internationally for the first time, marking the beginning of his professional career.
Martin’s career progressed quickly, earning him a reputation for intense drive and determination. He secured victories at the International Festival of Extreme Sports in both 2015 and 2016. In 2016, he made his X-Games debut in Austin, where he earned a silver medal, becoming the first rookie in eight years to medal in BMX Kark. The year 2017 brought a significant milestone when Martin won the inaugural BMX Freestyle world title at the UCI Urban World Championships in China. By 2019, he had achieved dual X-Games gold, the Urban Games gold, and a World Championship silver, further solidifying his standing in the sport. During this period, Martin also became a father, welcoming his son Noah Alexander with his wife Kimberley.
Demonstrating his commitment to training, Martin constructed a personal, competition-sized BMX park in his Gold Coast hinterland backyard in 2019 following the closure of his local facility. This enabled him to maintain rigorous training schedules even during the COVID-19 lockdowns. His continued efforts culminated in National Championship wins in 2020 and 2021, followed by a gold medal at the 2021 UCI World Championships in France with a score of 94.90. Martin made history at the Toyko 2020 Olympics by securing the first-ever men’s Olympic gold medal in BMX Freestyle, dominating the final with a score of 93.3 from his initial run. Although the Paris 2024 Games saw him finish ninth, he remains a highly decorated athlete with five X Games golds.
