TEAM GB RECORD-BREAKER SIR JASON KENNY HELPS TO LAUNCH BUSY BEES’ BIG TRIKE RIDE FOR CHILDREN IN NEED 2024 | MN2S

MN2S has brought Olympic multi-gold-medal cyclist Sir Jason Kenny and childcare provider Busy Bees Nurseries together to launch Children in Need’s amazing Big Trike Ride.

Sir Jason, the most decorated British athlete of all-time, recently joined forces with Busy Bees, the UK’s largest early-years childcare provider, to launch the Big Trike Ride for this year’s BBC Children in Need.

The month-long event features more than 30,000 toddlers and pre-school children across Busy Bees’ 430 nurseries attempting to collectively cover 874 miles—the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats—by cycling, triking, or scooting 40 metres each.

“It’s an honour to kick-start this mass cycling event,” enthused Sir Jason, who won seven Olympic gold medals for sprint cycling between 2008 and 2020. “Encouraging young children to get involved in physical activities is something I’m passionate about, and it’s even better that it’s supporting such a worthy cause.”

“The children I met were full of smiles and ready to get going. You never know, there could be a few future gold medallists amongst them!”

Another aim of the event is to support TV star Paddy McGuinness as he raises money for Children in Need by cycling 300 miles on a classic Chopper bike as part of his Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge.

Incredibly, the event will mark the first time that Busy Bees have partnered with Children in Need. Both are committed to the relationship between one of the UK’s best-known nursery chains and best-known children’s charities raising £300,000 over the next three years.

There couldn’t be a better figurehead for their inaugural bike-riding fundraiser than Jason Kenny. “We’re thrilled to join forces with Jason for such a meaningful charity and cause,” said Chris McCandless, Busy Bees Europe CEO. “We believe in providing every child with the best start in life. Hopefully the money raised will help to improve opportunities and lay the foundations for future success for other young people.”

BBC Children in Need has now been running for over 40 years, raising more than £1 billion for disadvantaged children in the UK. Alongside its mascot, Pudsey Bear, it has become a staple of the British charity fundraising calendar and an important part of many childhoods. The involvement of inspirational MN2S talent Jason Kenny with imaginative initiatives such as Busy Bees’ Big Trike Ride will help to raise funds, awareness, and encourage children to be physically active from an early age.
