Lucas Yancey made headlines after his standout introduction during season thirteen of The Bachelorette. He’s known for his famous catchphrase, “Whaboom,” which he screamed at bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay, while also sporting a T-shirt that had “Whaboom” written on it. This unusual first impression made quite the splash across The Bachelorette fandom, leading “The Whaboom Guy” to several opportunities. Not only did he guest-star on Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel, but he even performed his signature “Whaboom Song” on an episode of Jennifer Day TV.
Born and raised in California, Yancey started out with a more normal career path, graduating from the prestigious UC Berkeley with a Bachelors in legal studies and a focus in business, and even nabbed four national championship titles in rugby during his undergrad. However, Yancey was drawn to the entertainment industry, so he began working as a production assistant on a handful of films, including the box office smash, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. At the same time, he worked on a two-year, professional acting certificate in Los Angeles and two acting classes at various studios to prep for his career switch.
Eventually, Yancey got himself in front of the camera. Before The Bachelorette, he appeared on ten episodes of WeTV’s Ex Isle, and guest-starred on other programs such as Bullseye, The Dominick Nati Show, and Single & Thorny. As for acting, he debuted in the film 8 Reels of Sewage as Davis, and even served as an actor, writer, producer, and director in not one, but two Doritos Superbowl commercials. His other major campaign appearances include Got Milk? and Jockey Sport. Additionally, he performs standup at The Comedy Store and The Hollywood Improv.
Outside of entertainment, Yancey donates all of his “Whaboom” merchandise profits to The Robert Paylor Fund.
