Marcus Trufant

Born on December 25, 1980, in Tacoma, Washington, Marcus Trufant began his athletic career at Wilson High School, excelling in football, basketball, and track. He was recognized as the Washington AAAA Player of the Year by multiple publications and guided his football team to the State AAAA championship game. Trufant continued his collegiate football career at Washington State University, starting all four years and earning accolades such as Pac-10 All-Freshman selection in 1999, honorable mention All-Pac-10 in 2001, first-team All-Pac-10 in 2002, and second-team AP All-American in 2002. Notably, he did not allow a single touchdown against him during his final two years in college, demonstrating his defensive prowess early in his career.

Trufant’s professional journey began when the Seattle Seahawks selected him as the 11th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. He spent ten seasons with the Seahawks, becoming a hometown favorite due to his Tacoma roots and Washington State education. A significant career highlight occurred in 2007 when he recorded a career-high 7 interceptions, returning one for an 84-yard touchdown, and earned a Pro Bowl selection. His consistent performance and leadership led the Seahawks to place a franchise tag on him in 2008, followed by a six-year, $50.2 million contract.

After his tenure with the Seahawks, Trufant briefly joined the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013 before officially retiring from the NFL on April 23, 2014, signing a one-day contract to retire as a Seattle Seahawk. Post-NFL, Trufant has transitioned into entrepreneurship, particularly in real estate with a focus on self-storage investments. He is also involved with the Trufant Family Foundation and serves as a speaker and co-host of “The Truly-Unruly” podcast, sharing insights from his diverse experiences.
