Mark Chao

Mark Chao is a Taiwanese-Canadian actor, recognized for his work across film and television in both Taiwan and mainland China. After his critically acclaimed debut in the television series ‘Black & White’ (2009), Mark Chao quickly established himself, earning the Best Actor award at the 44th Golden Bell Awards for his portrayal of Wu Yingxiong. His transition to film proved equally successful with the gangster flick ‘Monga’ (2010), which achieved significant commercial and critical acclaim in Taiwan. Chao’s performance in ‘Monga’ garnered him the Best Newcomer award at the 5th Asian Film Awards in 2011, paving his way into the mainland Chinese market.

Maintaining a strong presence in both film and television, Chao starred in the action-adventure film ‘Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe’ (2015). His highly anticipated return to television in 2017 with the fantasy romance drama ‘Eternal Love’ captivated audiences across Asia, significantly boosting his popularity and solidifying his status as a prominent actor. That same year, his rising profile was recognized with a ranking of 36th on the prestigious Forbes China Celebrity 100 list.
