Mark Dolan was born on March 17, 1974, in Camden, London, England, UK. He grew up above the Sir Robert Peel public house in Kentish Town. Dolan attended University College School and the University of Edinburgh, where he earned an MA in politics. While at Edinburgh, he participated in the improvisational comedy troupe The Improverts. He began his professional career as a stand-up comedian in 2000, reaching the final of the C4 stand-up competition ‘You Think You’re Funny’. His early media experience also included work as a radio producer in the mid-1990s.
Dolan gained public attention in 2002 after writing and performing in ‘The Richard Taylor Interviews’ on Channel 4’s ‘Comedy Lab’. From 2005 to 2008, he hosted the Channel 4 show ‘Balls of Steel’. His work extended to presenting three series of ‘The World’s …And Me’, a documentary series that explored extraordinary individuals globally, which was followed by a book release. In 2006, he helped launch More4 by hosting ‘The Last Word’, a nightly topical discussion program, and also fronted E4’s launch comedy series, ‘Show Me The Funny’. He also provided voice work for the Five series ‘Urban Legends’. For five years, Dolan was the presenter of Sky Movies’ weekly movie-news show ’35mm’ and Channel 4’s ‘The Mad Bad Ad Show’.
His career includes diverse television appearances such as participating in ‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’ in 2013 and co-hosting ‘If Katie Hopkins Ruled the World’ in 2015. He won ‘Celebrity Come Dine with Me’ in 2016 and appeared on Channel 4’s ‘The Jump’. Dolan returned to radio, presenting a breakfast show on Fubar Radio in 2017 and later joined Talkradio in 2019, where he hosted ‘Drivetime’ and weekend shows. In July 2021, he moved to GB News, presenting ‘Mark Dolan Tonight’ and ‘Friday Night Live with Mark Dolan’ until December 2024, when he announced his departure. He is slated to join TalkTV in 2025. Mark Dolan is married to Maria since 2004, and they have two children.
