Konidela Ram Charan was born on March 27, 1985, in Madras (now Chennai), India, into an influential Telugu film family. His father is the Indian Telugu film actor Chiranjeevi. Charan received his education at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, Lawrence School, Lovedale, The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, and St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad. He further honed his craft at Kishore Namit Kapoor’s acting school in Mumbai. In April 2024, Vels University, Chennai, awarded him an honorary doctorate.
Charan made his acting debut in 2007 with the action film “Chirutha,” which was a box office success and earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South. His career advanced significantly with S.S. Rajamouli’s fantasy action film “Magadheera” (2009), which became the highest-grossing Telugu film at the time and brought him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu. He continued to achieve commercial success with notable films such as “Rangasthalam” (2018), earning his second Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu, and “RRR” (2022). “RRR” solidified his status as a pan-Indian star, becoming the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time and garnering international recognition, including a Critics’ Choice Super Awards nomination for Best Actor and another Filmfare Award.
Beyond his acting career, Charan launched his own production house, Konidela Production Company, in 2016, producing successful films like “Khaidi No. 150” (2017) and “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” (2019). He also has business ventures, owning the polo team Ram Charan Hyderabad Polo Riding Club and previously co-owning the airline service TruJet. In May 2023, he co-founded V Mega Pictures. These entrepreneurial endeavors highlight his business acumen in addition to his film accomplishments.
