Australian cricket legend, Mark Waugh is a former cricketer with an extensive background as an international and domestic player. He made his debut for Australia in 1985 and later made his Test debut in 1990 scoring 138 the same year he made his first One Day International. As a Right-hand bat, Waugh signed to play under the Egerton Cricket Club in the Bolton League with his brother Steve Waugh.
He excelled in First-Class cricket with over 26,000 scoring runs and a top score of 229 throughout his career as well as becoming Australia’s leading one day run scorer. Waugh later spent two seasons with the Essex County Cricket Club as the as an overseas professional. He was voted as Sheffield Shield’s ‘Player of the Year’ in 1987–88 and 1989–90 for his performance in the tournament while signed under New South Wales. From 1994 onward he got into the elite league of batsmen as he made runs with ease and grace across FC and LA. He played in the 1996 Cricket World Cup in the Indian subcontinent and later participated in Australia’s World Cup-winning team in 1999.
Retiring from international gameplay in 2002, he continued in the Australian domestic circuit and county level cricket before exiting the field completely in 2004. He later became a devoted cricket commentator for television’s Fox Cricket as an expert analyst.
