Matt De Groot

Matt De Groot is the dynamic and fast moving man best known as the breakfast newsreader for Fitzy &Wippa on Sydney’s Nova 96.9, and one of the three hosts of the popular Saturday morning show also hosted by Nova, titled Matt, Sarah and Matty J. De Groot is also a regular panellist on The Morning Show, broadcast on Channel 7 and Studio 10, and often makes guest appearances on Sky News, the ABC and a wide range of other programs. He also commentates on rugby league games for Channel 9, and is the game-day MC for the Sydney Swans, Wallabies and the Sydney Sixers.

A high achiever from the beginning who always keeps himself busy, De Groot is a former Coffs Harbour Young Australian Of The Year, and represented his country in the 2006 Commonwealth Games as a baton relay runner. De Groot’s first role in Sydney was as a sports journalist for 2UE radio, and at just 21, he became one of the youngest to host a sports program in the history of the station. During his time with 2UE, he covered the Commonwealth Games in India, countless State Of Origins, cricket tests, and has had the pleasure to interact with Prime Ministers and Premiers.

When not focused on sports, De Groot is also an author and columnist. He has contributed to various magazines supporting a range of social issues, including same-sex marriage and has written for the lifestyle website 9Honey, and Man Of Many, addressing a wide array of subjects. He is also a White Ribbon and Barnardos ambassador, and sits on the board of the charity Batting 4 Change.
