Best known for his roles in Spring Awakening, War Horse, and The Book of Mormon, Matt Doyle is an American actor and singer-songwriter. He has starred in numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions and made recurring appearances in The CW series Gossip Girl.
After studying classical theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Doyle made his Broadway debut in 2007 as a stand-by in Spring Awakening. He was soon promoted to the role of Hanschen and became a permanent member of the Spring Awakening cast. Doyle then appeared in the 2009 revival of Bye Bye Birdie followed by a critically acclaimed role in War Horse. From 2012 to 2014, he starred as Elder Price in the Broadway production of the Book of Mormon. In addition to his success in theater, he also starred in the 2011 Romeo and Juliet film adaption, Private Romeo. He graced television sets across America as Jonathan Whitney in Gossip Girl, appearing in several seasons of the popular drama series.
Doyle is also a talented singer-songwriter, releasing his first EP, Daylight, in 2011. He then released Constant, a follow-up EP, before his debut album Uncontrolled in 2016. Doyle is one of the industry’s finest acting talents, also appearing in productions of Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, A Clockwork Orange, and Company. Currently residing in New Jersey, he often performs at famous New York clubs including 54 Below and Joe’s Pub.
