About

Matt Rogers was born on March 5, 1990, to Richard and Katrina Rogers, and raised on Long Island, New York. He attended Islip High School, where he was named prom king and excelled academically, scoring a perfect 100 on his New York State Regents English examination and a 5 on both the AP Language and Composition and AP English Literature exams. He also ran track, achieving a 4:36-mile at age fifteen. After high school, Rogers earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dramatic writing from New York University (NYU). While at NYU, he joined the improvisational group Hammerkatz and began studying at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) in 2009. It was during his time at NYU that he first met Bowen Yang, with whom he would later collaborate extensively.

Rogers’s career in comedy began with performing in shows like “Characters Welcome” and “Amazing Welcome” at UCB. He was also a member of the Maude team and served as artistic director for the musical sketch comedy group Pop Roulette. In 2011, he gained early industry experience as an intern on the set of “Teen Mom 2.” His talent was recognized in 2016 when Comedy Central named him a “Comic to Watch.” That same year, Rogers co-launched the podcast “Las Culturistas” with Bowen Yang, which has since gained critical acclaim and a substantial following. The podcast, initially part of the Forever Dog network, moved to Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players podcast network and iHeartRadio in 2020. It won “Podcast of the Year” at the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards in 2023 and “Outstanding Podcast” at the GLAAD Media Awards in 2024.

Beyond his podcast work, Rogers has hosted television competition series, including Quibi’s “Gayme Show” (2020), which he co-hosted with Dave Mizzoni, and HBO Max’s “Haute Dog” (2020). As an actor, he has appeared in TV series such as “Shrill,” “Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens,” and “Search Party.” In 2021, he took on a main role in the comedy series “I Love That for You” and a supporting role in the film “Fire Island.” Rogers is also a prolific voice actor and writer, lending his voice to “Our Cartoon President” and, since 2021, playing the character Twink on Netflix’s “Q-Force,” where he also served as a writer. In December 2022, Rogers released his musical comedy special, “Have You Heard of Christmas?” on Showtime, which was later developed into his debut album of the same name released under Capitol Records in November 2023.
