Maurice Edu

Edu immediately showcased his impact, securing MLS Rookie of the Year honors in his debut season and earning his first international cap with the U.S. Men’s National Team later that year. This rapid ascent in professional soccer quickly paved the way for a move to Europe. In 2008, Edu transferred to Scottish powerhouse Rangers, where he achieved significant success over four seasons.

He played a pivotal role in securing three consecutive Scottish Premier League titles (2008–09, 2009–10, 2010–11) and three cups, including the Scottish Cup in 2008–09 and the Scottish League Cup in both 2009–10 and 2010–11. Edu also gained invaluable experience in prestigious European competitions, making his UEFA Champions League debut in 2010 and featuring in the UEFA Europa League. He marked his 100th appearance for Rangers in 2011, notably scoring a stoppage-time winner against Old Firm rivals Celtic in 2010. Following his acclaimed tenure in Scotland, Edu continued his European career with transfers to Stoke City in England (2012) and a loan spell with Bursaspor in Turkey (2013), before returning to MLS.
