The masterful Maurizio Vescovo is a former professional Latin dancer, who now works as an instructor, choreographer, adjudicator, instructor, and coach. He is also the Director of WDO World Dance Organisation. As a dancer he was a World Latin American Dance champion, a Blackpool Amateur champion, and appeared in the British Open Professional final eight years in a row.
Born and raised in Veneto, Italy, Vescovo began dancing at a early age. His first partner was Loredana Vizziello and together they won the Bronze at the World Youth Latin Championships, and made it to the final in the U-21 category at the Blackpool Dance Festival.
From 1998 Vescovo partnered with Melinda Torokgyorgy, going on to become the Amateur Latin champions. The duo turned professional in 2008, winning the Hungarian Professional Latin National Championships in 2009, and the German Open Championships. Later that year Vescovo began dancing with Andra Vaidilaite, becoming National champions of Italy and Canada, and winning the WDC World Cup Latin Championships. In 2016, after 30 years on the competitive circuit, he retired and began concentrating on instructing and adjudicating.
