Melina Nava Perez was born on March 9, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. Her career began in modeling, where she won several competitions including Miss Hawaiian Tropic, Anaheim, and Ms. California Belleza Latina. In 2000, Perez started training as a professional wrestler at Jesse Hernandez’s School of Hard Knocks, making her debut in 2001. She later auditioned for WWE’s Tough Enough III in 2002, reaching the final twenty-one contestants and receiving encouragement from Al Snow to continue her wrestling pursuits.
Perez signed with WWE in March 2004, joining Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), their developmental territory. There, she managed Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury as part of the stable MNM, leading them to three WWE Tag Team Championships and Nitro to two WWE Intercontinental Championships. Melina made her official WWE main roster debut as a heel manager on SmackDown! in April 2005. In 2019, she debuted with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), taking on various managerial and wrestling roles. Perez has also made sporadic appearances with WWE, including at Raw Reunion in 2019 and the Royal Rumble in 2022, and with Impact Wrestling in 2021.
