Meredith Salenger

Meredith Salenger began her professional acting career at a young age, appearing as an orphan in “Annie” in 1982, directed by John Huston. By the age of 14, she secured a lead role in “The Journey of Natty Gann” (1985), acting opposite John Cusack and Ray Wise. This film received the gold award at the Moscow Film Festival and earned Salenger the “Best Actress in a Drama” award at the Youth in Film Awards. She continued her film work in teen movies such as “Dream a Little Dream” with the Coreys and “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon” alongside River Phoenix and Matthew Perry. Following these early successes, Salenger paused her acting career for four years to pursue higher education.

Salenger attended Harvard University, where she graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology. Later, in 2009, she obtained certification in Mediation from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law and successfully mediated over one hundred cases within the Los Angeles Superior courts. Upon returning to Hollywood, she expanded her career into television, appearing in comedies like “H.U.D.” with Steve Carell and “Chicks,” which was written by former Seinfeld writers. Her dramatic television roles include appearances in “24,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Daredevil,” “Damages,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Cold Case,” and “Close to Home.” In film, she starred in David Kelley’s “Lake Placid” and John Carpenter’s “Village of the Damned.” Salenger also entered the Star Wars universe, lending her voice to characters in “The Clone Wars,” “Rebels,” and “The Force Awakens,” and has provided voiceover work for productions like “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” “My Little Pony,” “Teen Titans Go! to the Movies,” and “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.”

Since 2021, Salenger has been involved in writing and producing two new shows—a sitcom and an animated series—with her writing partner, Matt Boren. She also co-hosts a podcast with her husband, Patton Oswalt, titled “Did You Get My Text?” Her career milestones demonstrate a consistent presence in entertainment across various platforms and roles, evolving from a child actor to a recognized voice artist, producer, and writer. She married comedian Patton Oswalt in 2017.
