Best known as an Emmy-Award winning choreographer in So You Think You Can Dance, Mia Michaels is an American choreographer that has worked on several high-profile projects. She has choreographed dances for Celine Dion, Cirque du Soleil, The Rockettes, and The Tony Awards.
Born to a family of dancers in Miami, Florida, Michaels’ breakthrough came via the Fox television series So You Think You Can Dance. She appeared as both a judge and a choreographer, earning three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography. Michaels also choreographed Celine Dion’s A New Day at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, earning widespread critical acclaim. Her additional choreography credits include the 68th Tony Awards, The Rockettes’ Summer Spectacular, and the Broadway musical Finding Neverland. She also worked on the hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages, which was then followed by an acting appearance in Step Up 4. Michaels recently worked as a choreographer for The Spongebob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge, featuring music from Hans Zimmer.
Michaels has also enjoyed a decorated career in the fashion world, being one of the oldest models to walk the runway of New York Fashion Week.
