Michael Matt is a ski racer from Austria who has won multiple Olympic medals, including a team gold. He has also participated in three different World Championships, and his area of expertise is the Slalom competition.
Matt is the brother of Mario Matt, who won both the World Championship and the Olympic Championship, and Andreas Matt, who won the World Championship in Ski Cross. His brother Michael Matt was only eight years old when he perished in an avalanche in the year 2001. In November of 2013, the Levi slalom was where 20-year-old Matt made his first appearance on the World Cup circuit, skiing with his older brother Mario. In 2015, he participated in the World Championships that were held at Beaver Creek, in the United States. In the slalom competition, Matt participated but was unable to complete the second run.
Matt finished in second place in his first World Cup podium, which took place in Finland on November 13, 2016, at the Levi race. He went on to celebrate his first victory on March 5, 2017, in Slovenia at the Kranjska Gora race. After completing the first run in the slalom competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Matt finished in 12th place. But, after completing the second run, he moved up to third place and secured the bronze medal for himself. In addition, he was a member of the Austrian team that finished in second place overall in the team competition.
