Micky Van De Ven

Micky van de Ven is a professional footballer specializing as a centre-back, currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur and the Netherlands national team. After joining FC Volendam’s youth system in July 2013, Micky Van De Ven made his first-team debut for the club against Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie. During the 2019–20 season, he solidified his position, making 19 appearances. His rapid progression saw him assume captaincy for the 2020–21 season, where he contributed two goals in 26 appearances as Volendam competed in the promotion play-offs.

He concluded his impactful tenure with the club, registering a total of 48 senior appearances and two goals. Demonstrating his burgeoning talent, Van De Ven secured a transfer to Germany’s Bundesliga, joining VfL Wolfsburg in August 2021 for a fee of £3.15 million. Van De Ven quickly established himself in the Bundesliga, making 33 appearances for VfL Wolfsburg during the 2022–23 season. This period saw him score a crucial goal in a 2–0 victory against Borussia Dortmund and earn recognition for recording the highest top speed among Bundesliga defenders, reaching an impressive 35.89 km/h.

In May 2025, he played a pivotal role in Tottenham’s 1–0 victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final, securing his first major career honor and the club’s first trophy in 17 years. His leadership qualities were also recognized in September 2025 when he captained Tottenham for the first time in a UEFA Champions League match against FK Bodo/Glimt, scoring one goal. He also scored his first international goal for the Netherlands in 2025, underscoring his growing influence on both club and international stages.
