Mike De Decker is a prominent Belgian professional darts player competing in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He achieved a significant milestone in 2024 by winning his first PDC title at Players Championship 16, where he triumphed over Ricky Evans. This victory marked a pivotal moment in his career, showcasing his growth and skill on the international stage.
De Decker’s journey to success began in January 2020 when he regained his Tour card at the European Q-School in Hildesheim, defeating Dennis Nilsson 5–3 in the final. This victory set the tone for a promising year, as he reached the second round of the 2020 UK Open and qualified for the Players Championship Finals after making it to the round of 16 in two Players Championships. Although he faced José de Sousa in the first round of the finals and lost 3–6, De Decker continued to make strides in his career, participating in the PDC Home Tour and advancing to round 3.
In 2021, De Decker qualified for his first PDC World Darts Championship, where he faced Edward Foulkes but was eliminated in a 0–3 loss. Later that year, he participated in the Grand Slam of Darts but struggled in the group stage, finishing last. However, he bounced back in 2022 by securing his first World Championship win against Darius Labanauskas, although he was subsequently defeated by Dave Chisnall in the second round.
By 2023, De Decker had established himself within the top 64 of the PDC Order of Merit, making his debut at the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix. He continued to qualify for the World Championship in 2024, where he secured a win against Dragutin Horvat but lost in the second round to Madars Razma. With a bronze medal from the 2021 EDF European Championship in singles, De Decker’s achievements reflect his determination and talent in the competitive world of darts.
