Nicolas Jarry

Born on October 11, 1995, in Santiago, Chile, Nicolás Jarry Fillol comes from a family with a strong tennis legacy, including his grandfather, former ATP player Jaime Fillol. Jarry turned professional in 2014. His early career saw an impressive junior run, reaching the final of the 2013 French Open in boys’ doubles. He made his ATP tournament debut in 2015 and began regularly competing in Challenger events, securing three titles in 2017 at Medellín, Quito, and Santiago. These victories marked his entry into the top 100 of the ATP rankings by the end of 2017.

Jarry’s career progression accelerated in 2018 with his first ATP doubles title at the Ecuador Open Quito and his first ATP singles final at the Brasil Open. That same year, he made his Grand Slam main draw debut at the Australian Open and achieved his first top-10 victory against Dominic Thiem at the German Open, reaching a career-high ranking of world No. 39. In 2019, he secured his maiden ATP singles title at the Swedish Open and had another notable win against Alexander Zverev at the Barcelona Open. After a provisional suspension in 2020 due to a doping violation, he returned to the tour in late 2020, winning two Challenger titles in 2021 before steadily climbing back up the rankings.

The year 2023 marked a significant turning point, with Jarry winning two ATP titles at the Chile Open and the Geneva Open. He also recorded multiple top-10 victories against players like Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas, reaching his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal at the Shanghai Masters and entering the top 20, becoming the Latin American No. 1 player. In 2024, he continued to achieve milestones, including his 100th career win, a notable victory over world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, and his first Masters 1000 final appearance at the Italian Open, elevating his ranking to world No. 16. Jarry was also selected as a flag bearer for Chile at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
