Michael Zapcic, often known as Mike Zapcic or “Chief,” developed an early interest in comic books, beginning to read them at the age of three. This early exposure to the worlds of characters like Iron Man, Avengers, Captain America, Superboy, and the Legion of Superheroes laid the foundation for his encyclopedic knowledge of Marvel and DC comics. His detailed memory for comic book lore and pop culture made him a recognized authority in the field, extending into independent materials as well. After completing culinary school and working as a cook, he joined Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash, Kevin Smith’s comic book store in Red Bank, New Jersey, in 2000, a role he describes as his “greatest job in the world.”
