Mithila Palkar was born on January 11, 1993, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She exhibited an early interest in performing arts, participating in inter-school drama competitions. After pursuing a Bachelor of Mass Media from M.M.K. College, Bandra, Palkar began her career in the entertainment industry. She made her acting debut in 2014 with the Marathi short film ‘Majha Honeymoon,’ which was featured at the 16th Mumbai International Film Festival. Her initial foray into Hindi cinema was in 2015, playing Imran Khan’s sister in the film ‘Katti Batti.’
Palkar gained significant recognition in 2016 through her viral ‘cup song’ rendition of the Marathi song ‘Hi Chal Turu Turu,’ which amassed millions of views on YouTube. This digital exposure led to roles in web series such as ‘Girl in the City,’ where she portrayed Meera Sehgal, and ‘Little Things,’ starring as Kavya Kulkarni alongside Dhruv Sehgal. ‘Little Things’ achieved widespread popularity, with Netflix acquiring its franchise in 2018. The series ran for four seasons, concluding in 2021, and was also published as a book by Penguin Random House. Palkar’s career progression includes her Marathi film debut in ‘Muramba’ (2017), for which she received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – Marathi. In 2018, she starred in her first lead Hindi film role in ‘Karwaan,’ appearing alongside Irrfan Khan and Dulquer Salmaan. She continued her work in films like ‘Chopsticks’ (2019), a Netflix original, and ‘Tribhanga’ (2021).
Beyond acting, Palkar has engaged in theatre productions such as ‘Tunni Ki Kahani’ and ‘Aaj Rang Hai’ in 2017, and ‘Dekh Behen’ from 2018 onwards. Her work in ‘Little Things’ earned her two Filmfare OTT Awards for Best Actress – Comedy Series and Best Actress Critics – Comedy Series. In 2018, Forbes India included her in their ’30 Under 30′ list of young achievers, acknowledging her impact and influence. She has expanded into regional cinema, making her Telugu debut in ‘Ori Devuda’ (2022) and has upcoming projects in various languages, including ‘Oho Enthan Baby’ (2025) in Tamil.
