About

Molly Baz was born on May 9, 1988, in Rhinebeck, New York, and received her education from Poughkeepsie Day School, graduating in 2006. She then attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, where she studied art history and graduated in 2010. During her time studying abroad in Florence, Italy, Baz discovered a passion for cooking. In her senior year at Skidmore, she co-hosted biweekly dinners for the local community, preparing meals with local ingredients, further solidifying her interest in the culinary arts.

From 2008 to 2014, Molly Baz pursued hands-on culinary experience as a line cook in various restaurants across Boston and New York City, including Picholine in Lincoln Square. In 2011, she took a period to travel across the southern United States with her father, a photographer, visiting barbecue establishments to learn from pitmasters. In 2013, while in New York, she co-founded a catering company called Rustic Supper. Her career progressed into food media when she began working as a recipe tester for Condé Nast’s Epicurious in 2015, before moving to Bon Appétit. By 2018, she held the position of Senior Associate Food Editor at Bon Appétit.

Baz became a recognizable personality on Bon Appétit’s YouTube channel, appearing in videos alongside other staff members like Andy Baraghani and Claire Saffitz, particularly in the “Making Perfect” series, which focused on creating “perfect” versions of various dishes. In 2019, she conducted cooking demonstrations at the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival. In October 2020, following significant internal issues at Bon Appétit, Baz departed the publication. She subsequently launched her own subscription service, “Recipe Club,” on Patreon in November 2020, which quickly gained thousands of subscribers. In April 2021, she published her first cookbook, “Cook This Book,” a New York Times Best Seller, followed by “More Is More” in October 2023, also a New York Times Best Seller. Molly Baz has also appeared as a guest judge on Discovery+’s “The Julia Child Challenge” in 2022 and has since launched her own flavored mayonnaise brand, “Ayoh,” and partnered with Special K.
