The incredible long-distance runner Moses Ndiema Kipsiro specialises in the 5000m event, but also runs cross-country. His personal best times are: 3:37.60 in 1500m, 7:30.95 in 3000m, 12:50.72 in 5000m, and 27:04.48 in the 10,000m event. He was a bronze-winning medallist at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, and represented his native Uganda at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has won medals in the 5000m at the African Championships and in the All-Africa Games. He is a four-time Ugandan cross-country champion having won every race from 2008 to 2011. He is also the Ugandan record holder for both the 3000m and 5000m on track, and for the 10k road distance.
The Ugandan national made his first senior international appearance at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, and it was just a year later that he really made an impact taking the silver medal in the 5000m and the gold medal in the 10,000m events at the 2006 African Championships in Athletics. And the more he raced, the more successful he became, clocking up regular victories and medal hauls, including taking bronze in the 5000m at Osaka in the 2007 World Championships, two silvers at the 2010 Continental Cup for 3000m and 5000m, and two golds at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi in the 5000m and 10,000m. He also took gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the 10,000m event.
