Neil Sandilands

Neil Sandilands has established himself as a versatile actor, director, and musician, with a career spanning over three decades in both South Africa and internationally. After securing his first television role in ‘Meester’ in 1989, Neil Sandilands established a strong artistic foundation, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Rand Afrikaans University in 1996. There, he received an honorary award for Arts & Culture, consistently winning the university’s Theatre Festival with self-written and performed plays. By 2000, Sandilands became a recognized figure in South Africa for his portrayal of Bart Kruger in the popular soap opera ‘7de Laan,’ before making his international film debut in 2003 with the art-house feature ‘Proteus.’ Sandilands’ international career significantly accelerated with roles in prominent American television series, including ‘House MD’ (2010) and a guest role in FX’s ‘The Americans’ (2015).

Most recently, Sandilands garnered an Emmy nomination in 2023 for his compelling performance as General Abbot in Netflix’s acclaimed series ‘Sweet Tooth.’ He further solidified his presence in major cinematic franchises with his role as Koro in the 2024 blockbuster ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.’ His career trajectory showcases a versatile artist balancing global projects with diverse creative pursuits across acting, directing, and music.
