About

Nicholas Hilmy Kyrgios was born on April 27, 1995, in Canberra, Australia. He began his junior career in 2008 and quickly rose through the ranks, winning the singles event at the 2013 Australian Open and multiple junior doubles titles at the French Open and Wimbledon in 2012 and 2013. Kyrgios turned professional in 2013, making his Grand Slam main draw debut at the French Open that same year. His career progression saw a significant turning point in 2014 when, as a wildcard at Wimbledon, he defeated then-world No. 1 Rafael Nadal to reach the quarterfinals, entering the ATP top 100.

Throughout his professional career, Kyrgios has achieved notable milestones, including winning his first ATP title at the 2016 Open 13 in Marseille and securing a career-high singles ranking of world No. 13 in October 2016. He reached his first Masters 1000 final at the 2017 Cincinnati Masters. A significant achievement came in 2022 when he reached his first major singles final at Wimbledon and won the men’s doubles title at the Australian Open with Thanasi Kokkinakis. That same year, he won the singles and doubles titles at the Washington Open, becoming the first player in the tournament’s history to do so.

Despite facing various injuries, including wrist and knee issues that led to withdrawals in 2023 and 2024, Kyrgios has also ventured into broadcasting, commentating for the BBC and ESPN at major tournaments. He has also launched a celebrity-interview series, “Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios.” These endeavors, alongside his unique playing style and candid personality, have maintained his presence in the public eye. Kyrgios returned to the tour in 2025, participating in the Brisbane International and Australian Open, continuing to attract significant attention.
