Cason David Wallace was born on November 7, 2003, in Dallas, Texas. He attended Richardson High School, where he achieved recognition as the Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year for Texas and The Dallas Morning News boys basketball Player of the Year. During his senior year, Wallace averaged 19.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. His high school career culminated in his selection to the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic. A highly-rated five-star recruit, Wallace committed to play college basketball for the University of Kentucky.
Wallace played one season of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. In the 2023 NBA Draft, he was selected tenth overall by the Dallas Mavericks. He was subsequently traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In his rookie year (2023-24), Wallace played in all 82 regular-season games, starting 13, and averaged 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. He demonstrated consistent growth in his second season (2024-25), playing in 68 games, with 43 starts, averaging 8.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists before a shoulder injury sidelined him temporarily. He returned for the playoffs.
Wallace made a significant contribution to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s success in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, helping the team secure their first NBA championship. His performance during the 2025-26 season led to his inclusion in the NBA All-Defensive Second Team on May 22, 2026. This award recognized his consistent defensive efforts and impact on the court.
