Nicolas Moreno de Alboran was born on July 14, 1997, in New York City, United States. He is a Spanish-American professional tennis player who initially honed his skills at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was recognized as one of the top 10 collegiate players nationally. During his youth, he also participated in rugby and soccer. After attending Ibstock Place School in London as a teenager, he trained at Dukes Meadows in Chiswick. He initially represented Spain in junior tennis events before switching to represent the United States. He turned professional in 2019.
His professional career saw consistent development, marked by his debut on the ATP Challenger Tour in the latter half of the 2021 season, following a period of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreno de Alboran secured his first Challenger title at the 2022 Braga Open in Portugal. This achievement contributed to his entry into the top 200 world rankings on February 20, 2023, reaching No. 188 after competing in his third Challenger final at the Chennai Open. He further advanced to the top 150 by June 12, 2023, winning his second Challenger title at the Tyler Tennis Championships. He made his Grand Slam debut at the 2023 US Open after successfully qualifying and his ATP debut at the 2023 Sofia Open as a lucky loser.
The 2024 season marked significant career progression for Moreno de Alboran. He achieved his first ATP main draw wins at the 2024 Dallas Open and 2024 Delray Beach Open and made his Masters debut at the 2024 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. He reached his first ATP quarterfinal at the 2024 Grand Prix Hassan II and earned a wildcard for the 2024 French Open, marking his debut at this major tournament. His third Challenger title came at the 2024 Matsuyama Challenger. By November 18, 2024, he achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 109, demonstrating continued upward trajectory in his professional tennis career.
