Darren Webster, known as the “Demolition Man,” is a seasoned English darts player with a career full of highs and lows. In the 2019 World Championship, Webster faced a surprising setback when he was whitewashed 3–0 by Vincent van der Voort in the second round, a defeat that took many by surprise given his experience and skill.
After losing his Tour card following the 2022 PDC World Darts Championship, Webster fought hard to regain his status. He successfully reclaimed his Tour card on the second day of the 2022 Q-School Final Stage, allowing him to continue competing at a high level. Despite his efforts, Webster struggled to find his previous form during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, leading to a challenging period in his career.
In a notable return, Webster qualified for the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship, marking his first appearance in the tournament since 2020. He stated that this would be his final event, bringing an emotional weight to his participation. In the first round, he faced Niels Zonneveld and had several opportunities to take the match to a final set but ultimately lost 1–3, which also resulted in the loss of his Tour card.
Throughout his career, Webster has achieved several notable victories, including wins at the Eastbourne Open and the Gleneagle Irish Masters. He made a significant impact on the PDC circuit by breaking into the top 32 and later the top 16 on the PDC Order of Merit. As he reflects on his journey, Webster’s legacy in darts is marked by both his competitive spirit and his remarkable achievements in the sport.
