Nicholas Perry, known online as Nikocado Avocado, was born on May 19, 1992, in Kherson, Ukraine, and was adopted by an American family who raised him in Pennsylvania. His early life was marked by a focus on music, specifically the violin. Perry pursued violin performance in college at the Catholic University of America’s Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art, and notably performed at Carnegie Hall. Between 2011 and 2012, he worked as a freelance violinist and at Home Depot. In 2013, he moved to New York City with aspirations of joining a Broadway orchestra, but found it challenging to establish a career amongst many other talented musicians. This period marked a turning point from his musical aspirations towards new ventures.
Perry’s online career began in 2014, encouraged by his husband, Orlin Home, who already had a YouTube channel. Initially, Perry’s channel, Nikocado Avocado, featured vegan and lifestyle vlogs, alongside musical performances. However, in September 2016, Perry publicly announced his departure from vegan content, citing frustrations with the vegan community. This decision led to his entry into mukbang videos, a genre that involves eating large quantities of food on camera, making him one of the first American men to embrace the trend. His initial mukbang video quickly garnered 50,000 views, marking the beginning of his rise to internet celebrity status in this niche. He appeared on Comedy Central’s “Tosh.0” in 2018, further expanding his public profile.
Over the years, Perry expanded his online presence across multiple platforms including TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Patreon, and OnlyFans, accumulating over 9.9 million subscribers and approximately 2.67 billion total views across six YouTube channels. In 2024, Perry conducted a significant social experiment by revealing a secret weight loss of over 250 pounds (114 kg) over two years, which he had concealed by uploading pre-recorded content. This video, “Two Steps Ahead,” received over 26 million views in 48 hours. Following this, in 2025, he underwent a facelift with Dr. Benjamin Talei and body lift procedures with Dr. Timothy Katzen, removing over 10 pounds of excess skin, marking the culmination of his transformation.
