Pedro Ferreira is a trampoline gymnast from Portugal who rose to prominence when he won a bronze medal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. Ferreira has represented his nation at five world championships and has picked up medals at different levels on his rise to the top of the sport. Ferreira has enjoyed success as an individual trampoline gymnast and also in men’s synchro and team trampoline, picking up bronze medals in both events at the 25th European Championships in Valladolid, Spain in 2016.
Born in Vila do Conde, Portugal, Ferreira began trampoline gymnastics when he was eight years old encouraged by his father – a coach in acrobatic gymnastics – and his mother, an aerobics instructor. Ferreira tried the trampoline at the local gym, and his natural talent for the sport soon led to him joining the gymnastics division of Sporting Clube de Portugal. Ferreira kicked off his international career representing Portugal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, bagging the bronze medal with an incredible performance in the final worth 56.040 points.
Since his success at the Youth Olympics Ferreira has continued to represent his nation at senior level in international competitions, regularly finishing in the top 10 in individual and men’s synchro. Ferreira is now hoping to represent Portugal on the greatest stage in sport at the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in 2021.
