Pete Johansson

Peter Johansson was born on November 6, 1973, in Spokane, Washington, USA. He began his career as a writer and actor, eventually transitioning into stand-up comedy. His early acting credits include ‘Mixed Signals’ in 1997, where he portrayed Nicholas ‘Nick’ Frye, and ‘A Woman’s a Helluva Thing’ in 2001, where he served as an Announcer.

Johansson gained recognition after a successful showing at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montréal, leading to a deal with Warner Brothers Television. This exposure resulted in his network debut on NBC’s ‘Friday Night’ and a leading role in the independent film ‘Mixed Signals’ (1997) alongside Jason London and Brooke Langdon. During this period, he regularly performed at Improvisation comedy clubs across the United States. Following his return, he collaborated with HBO independent productions on a new development deal and earned a spot at the USA Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, as one of the ‘new faces.’ He was subsequently recognized as one of the comics to watch by The Hollywood Reporter.

His career further developed with television specials, including his first half-hour special for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on ‘Comics!’ and a subsequent hour-long special for The Comedy Channel’s ‘Comedy Now’ series. He has also performed in several ‘Just for Laughs’ Gala shows for CBC. In 2011, he appeared as an actor in the ‘Winnipeg Comedy Festival 2011’ and contributed as a writer to ‘The Debaters.’ His writing credits also include ‘Pete Johansson: You Might Also Enjoy Pete Johansson’ in 2016.
