Priya Tew is a registered dietitian and nutritionist with a degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Southampton (1999-2002) and a Master’s in Dietetics from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (2002-2004). Early in her career, she worked in NHS hospitals before moving into the specialized field of eating disorders, where she discovered her passion for helping individuals achieve recovery. She has experience running outpatient clinics, working in private hospitals with inpatients, and providing meal support. Since 2005, she has operated her private practice, Dietitian UK, based in Southampton, offering individual consultations and working with other clinics. Her clinical work extends to specialisms such as IBS, where she is trained in the low FODMAP diet by MONASH University and authored “The complete low FODMAP Diet Plan.” She also provides expertise in pregnancy nutrition, chronic fatigue, PCOS, and nutritional support through menopause.
Beyond her clinical practice, Priya Tew has developed an extensive media career, recognized for her ability to translate complex scientific information into accessible messages. She was awarded “Media Spokesperson of the Year” by the British Dietetic Association in 2015 and presented the Elsie Widdowson Lecture of the Year in 2020 on the role of dietitians as influencers. Her media appearances include television programs such as BBC1’s “Eat Well for Less,” “Food Truth or Scare,” Channel 4’s “Dispatches: The Truth About Vegans,” and Channel 5’s “Inside the Superbrands.” She also has behind-the-scenes experience as a dietitian for BBC1’s “Eat Well for Less.” Priya is a regular contributor to Network Health Digest magazine and collaborates with journalists, providing quotes for publications like Closer, Glamour, Women’s Health, and Good Housekeeping. Her previous work includes recipe development for BBC Food and Good Housekeeping.
In addition to her dietary work, Priya Tew is an advanced Pilates instructor, specializing in Antenatal, Pregnancy, and Post Natal Pilates. She runs “Pilates with Priya” in Southampton, combining her interests in fitness and nutrition. She has also worked with the English National Ballet and Olympic athletes, demonstrating her breadth of application in health and wellness. Since 2005, Priya has served as the Charity Manager for Young Hope, further illustrating her commitment to community and health initiatives.
