Miguel Angel Lopez Castro, a Cuban national volleyball team captain, began establishing his prominent career in 2015 when he was selected for the national volleyball center, ‘Escuela National de Voleibol’ in Havana, at the age of 18. He quickly rose through the ranks, participating in the Olympic Games Rio 2016 as captain of the Cuban national team. In 2016, Lopez Castro earned individual recognition as Best Outside Hitter and Best Server at the U23 Pan American Cup. His early international success continued in 2017, securing silver and bronze medals at the FIVB U21 World Championship and FIVB U23 World Championship, respectively, while also being named Best Outside Hitter at both the U21 Pan American Cup and the senior Pan American Cup.

His continued impact is anticipated, with projections including a silver medal in the AVC Champions League and the Best Outside Hitter award in 2025 while representing Osaka Bluteon.
