Stephen Paul Manderson, popularly known by his stage name Professor Green, is an English rapper, songwriter and television personality. Green has enjoyed immense success throughout his career, coming from humble beginnings, he has become a multi-platinum artist and boasts 3.5 million sales in the UK alone. Green’s autobiography was positively received, making the Times bestseller list. Green regularly seen on television, co-hosting the widely screened show Lip Sync Battle UK on Channel 5.
Green released his first mixtape in 2006, titled Lecture #1, while he was signed to The Beats. Following on from his debut, he released a self-produced EP called The Green EP. Green rose to prominence when he won the JumpOff MySpace £50,000 battle rap tournament in 2008, and he went on to work with internationally acclaimed artist, Lily Allen, on her 2009 tour. Green signed to Virgin Records in 2010 and released his debut album to rave reviews. The album was titled Alive Till I’m Dead and featured guest vocals from prominent artists Lily Allen, Emeli Sandé, Labyrinth and The Streets, amongst others. The album peaked at No 3 in the UK and achieved silver status.
Green has written and released three albums and several singles which has enjoyed huge success. His single, Just Be Good to Green, became a top 5 hit and his second album, titled At Your Inconvenience reached No 2 a week after its release. Hi second album’s first official single, Read All About It, saw Green collaborate with Emeli Sandé and became a No 1 hit in the UK Singles Chart. Green has won several music awards for his work, including Breakthrough Artist of the Year in the 2010 BT Digital Music Awards, Best Hip Hop/Grime Act at the MOBO Awards in 2010, amongst other awards and many nominations.
