Rebecca Lynn Zamolo was born on September 28, 1984, in Arlington, Virginia. She began her career as a competitive gymnast and track runner, later moving to Los Angeles, California, with aspirations of becoming an actress. Her early career was impacted by a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, a condition that led to severe abdominal issues and eventually to a full colon removal in 2014 due to signs of pre-cancer. Following this, she documented her experiences with the disease in a 40-minute feature documentary titled “Inside/Out: My Battle with IBD” released on Vimeo, sharing her personal health journey.
Zamolo transitioned significantly into digital content creation, establishing her personal YouTube channel where she features challenge, DIY, dancing, and gymnastics videos. In 2018, she expanded her digital footprint by launching the “Game Master Network” (formerly “The Real Game Master”), an escape room-inspired YouTube channel and alternate reality game series. This series, co-created with her husband Matt Yoakum (also known as Matt Slays), involves them solving clues to defeat an antagonist, cultivating a loyal fanbase known as the #ZamFam. This initiative marked a pivot towards more narrative-driven content, engaging a broad audience with interactive and mystery-based themes.
Her career further diversified with the release of an endless runner video game based on the “Game Master Network” series in October 2020, available on iOS and Android. This was followed by a subscription service within the app in December 2020 which provided exclusive content. Additionally, Zamolo co-authored two books, “The Game Master: Summer Schooled” (2021) and “The Game Master: Mansion Myst” (2022), both published by HarperCollins. She has also maintained a strong presence on TikTok, with over 18.1 million followers as of September 2024, and was signed by management firm Underscore Talent in October 2021, signifying her influence in the digital entertainment landscape.
