Renzo Gracie

Renzo Gracie is a highly respected martial artist and instructor, recognized for his contributions to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts, with a career spanning decades of competition and coaching. After achieving recognition as a multiple-time BJJ champion in Brazil by the age of 20, Renzo Gracie forged a distinguished career as a martial artist, instructor, and influential figure. Having trained under legendary Gracie instructors including Rolls Gracie, Renzo secured multiple Copa Atlântico Sul Championships in 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1994. His competitive mixed martial arts career commenced in 1992, participating in early Brazilian vale tudo circuits before transitioning to the international stage.

A significant milestone was winning the World Combat Championships 1 tournament in 1995, followed by his debut in the Pride Fighting Championships at Pride 1 in 1997, competing against prominent figures in MMA globally. Gracie’s career is marked by significant involvement in major mixed martial arts promotions, including the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Pride Fighting Championships, K-1, RINGS, and International Fight League (IFL). Beyond competition, Gracie established the renowned Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City in 1996. This academy became a cornerstone for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in America, developing over 70 active affiliates worldwide.

Most recently, on January 18, 2023, he received his 7th-degree coral belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Rickson Gracie in Abu Dhabi, a testament to his unparalleled mastery and legacy within the art.
