Rick Hoffman

Rick Hoffman was born on June 12, 1970, in New York City, New York. He grew up in Roslyn Heights, Long Island, and is a graduate of The Wheatley School. His academic journey continued at the University of Arizona, where he pursued a major in theater arts. After completing his education, Hoffman relocated to Los Angeles, California, with the aspiration of establishing an acting career. His initial foray into the industry involved minor roles and working as a waiter in New York City to support himself. This early period included projects such as his first credited role as a security guard in the 1997 film ‘Conspiracy Theory’.

His career began to gain traction with his casting as Freddie Sacker in Darren Star’s financial drama ‘The $treet’ in 2000. Although the series was short-lived, it marked a significant turning point, allowing him to transition fully into acting. Following this, Hoffman secured recurring roles in various television series. He appeared as Terry Loomis on Steven Bochco’s law drama ‘Philly’ from 2001 to 2002, and as Jerry Best in ‘The Bernie Mac Show’ from 2002 to 2005. He also played Patrick Van Dorn in ‘Jake in Progress’ (2004–2005) and Chase Chapman in the ABC comedy ‘Samantha Who?’ (2007–2009).

The most impactful role of his career came in 2011 when he was cast as Louis Litt in the USA Network legal drama ‘Suits’. This role spanned nine seasons, concluding in 2019, and captivated a large audience. Hoffman is set to reprise his role as Louis Litt in the upcoming spin-off series ‘Suits LA’. Beyond his television work, Hoffman has appeared in films such as ‘The Day After Tomorrow’, ‘Blood Work’, ‘Hostel’, ‘Cellular’, ‘The Condemned’, and ‘Thanksgiving’ (2023). He has also made guest appearances in numerous other television shows, including ‘CSI: Miami’, ‘Chuck’, ‘The Pretender’, ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, ‘NCIS’, ‘Crossing Jordan’, ‘Without a Trace’, ‘The Practice’, ‘CSI: NY’, ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’, ‘Shark’, ‘Lie to Me’, ‘Numb3rs’, ‘Monk’, ‘Billions’, and ‘The Mentalist’. Recently, he has been involved in projects like ‘London Calling’ (2024) and the upcoming ‘Thanksgiving 2’ and ‘Office Romance’, demonstrating continued activity in film and television productions.
