About

Robert William Corddry was born on February 4, 1971, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Corddry pursued his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, initially majoring in journalism before shifting his focus to English and drama. After relocating to New York City in January 1994, he gained early professional experience, including a year-long tour with the National Shakespeare Company. He further developed his comedic skills through improvisational theatre training at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, performing with sketch comedy groups “The Naked Babies” and “Third Rail Comedy.” His initial television exposure came from appearances on Comedy Central’s “Upright Citizens Brigade” from 1998 to 2000.

Corddry’s career saw a significant turning point in spring 2002 when he became a correspondent for “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” During his tenure until August 2006, his segments often incorporated references to his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. His work on the show was marked by a distinct comedic style that frequently involved satirical commentary on his interview subjects. He hosted an episode of “The Daily Show” on February 9, 2006. Post-“Daily Show,” Corddry expanded into film roles, including appearances in “Old School” (2003), “Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story” (2004), “The Heartbreak Kid” (2007), and “Hot Tub Time Machine” (2010). He also took on the role of Press Secretary Ari Fleischer in Oliver Stone’s film “W.” (2008). Corddry has won four Primetime Emmy Awards for his contributions to television.

In addition to acting, Corddry demonstrated his creative range as the creator, writer, and star of the web series “Childrens Hospital,” which later aired on Adult Swim from 2010 to 2016. He continued his television career with significant roles in HBO’s series “Ballers” from 2015 to 2019 and CBS’s comedy “The Unicorn” from 2019 to 2021. His filmography includes voice roles in animated features like “Escape from Planet Earth” (2013) and “Hit-Monkey (TV series)” (2024), and he has appeared in recent productions such as “80 for Brady” (2023) and “Bookie” (2023-2025). Corddry’s diverse work in acting, writing, and producing highlights his adaptability and sustained presence in the entertainment industry.
