Rob Maher is a stand-up comedian from Washington D.C. He came to the wider public’s attention after reaching the grand finals of Comedy Central’s Up Next national talent competition, having won the regional leg. His 2020 album Comedy for the Quarantine bought him to an even bigger audience, reaching number one in the iTunes comedy chart. In addition to stand-up, he’s a podcast host, co-presenting The Rob & Joe Show with fellow comic Joe Robinson on the MORE Broadcasting Network.
Maher hails from the DMV area of Washington and has firmly established himself as a popular stand-up. He is a regular performer at the Improv and Funny Bone chains of comedy clubs across the States and has been the opening act for the likes of Anchorman star David Koechner and Emmy-award winning comedian, actor, and author Tiffany Haddish. In addition to that, he has proudly performed for serving US troops, travelling the world to entertain in the likes of Afghanistan, Japan, and Egypt. In 2016, he made his first notable TV appearance when he was featured on Hart of the City, a comedy showcase series hosted by the legendary comedian Kevin Hart, in which he travelled the United States’ major cities to find fresh comic talent.
Another way Maher is involved in comedy is through Die Laughing Productions, a company he co-founded with Joe Robinson to stage innovative “murder mystery” shows. Consisting of scripted comedy, improv, and audience participation, the shows are an innovative, hilarious twist on the typical murder mystery event. Despite such shows being curtailed by the pandemic, his recent number one album proves that Maher will always find an audience.
