Robert Kazinsky

Robert John Appleby, known professionally as Robert Kazinsky, was born on November 18, 1983, in Haywards Heath, Sussex, England. He grew up in Brighton and is of Polish Jewish/Russian Jewish descent. Kazinsky pursued his acting education at the Guildford School of Acting from 2002 to 2005, graduating with honors. His career began with a role as Casper Rose in Sky One’s football drama ‘Dream Team’ from 2005 to 2006. Following this, he gained significant recognition portraying the character Sean Slater in the BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders,’ a role for which he was critically acclaimed, earning several awards.

Kazinsky expanded his career into Hollywood, securing roles in American television series such as ‘Law and Order: Los Angeles’ and ‘Brothers & Sisters’ in 2010. A significant turning point came with his casting in Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ as Fili in 2011, though he later withdrew due to personal reasons. He went on to appear in George Lucas’s World War II film ‘Red Tails’ (2012) and later joined the cast of HBO’s ‘True Blood’ in its sixth season (2013). That same year, he took on a prominent role as Chuck Hansen in Guillermo del Toro’s science-fiction film ‘Pacific Rim,’ further solidifying his presence in major film productions.

His career continued with diverse roles, including Orgrim Doomhammer in the film adaptation of ‘Warcraft’ (2016), a project he connected with as an avid player of ‘World of Warcraft.’ He also starred in the Fox television series ‘Second Chance’ (2016) and made a cameo appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film ‘Captain Marvel’ (2019). Kazinsky has continuously returned to his roots, reprising his role as Sean Slater in ‘EastEnders’ for guest appearances in 2019, 2021, and 2022, demonstrating his enduring connection to the character and the show.
